Tenth House Health is a space for us all to grow into the fullness of who we are. Whether you are participating through Craniosacral Therapy sessions and Yoga classes, or reading the weekly newsletter (that contains no news), you are part of the energy and connection that inspires us all to thrive.
As Promised: One Conscious Breath, a DIY de-stressor for daily life.
OCB is a radical disruptor of the kinds of anxiety provoking situations you face multiple times a day. Your phone dies right before you hit send; the weird sound coming from the dishwasher; your dog licking that spot again; all of these tiny hits of adrenaline coursing through you can really wear you down. You need a practice that you can do right away, even if you’re an experienced meditator.
Enter OCB. One Conscious Breath is an adaptation of a meditation practice I learned from Pema Chodron. I like to do it seated but it can be done anywhere.
The Practice
Place your palms on your knees with intentional pressure in your arms to feel fortification.
Then with deliberate slowness, take one long inhale and one long exhale.
And then PAUSE.
That’s it. You immediately get on with your day.
The idea is that you are training your brain to slow down and let go in small practical increments. Over time the benefits are one’s you can count on. You will start to cut through the speed and crazy and remember the fullness of who you are.
If you decide to adopt this practice, I’d love to hear from you and I look forward to sharing time together in the Tenth House.
