The Beginning is in the Ending

Dear Friends,

It is easy to get swept away in notions of endings when endings are just the soil for new beginnings. When I think of endings in this way, it slows my tempo and allows me to stay present to my heartbeat during external turbulence.

We are bombarded with cruelty in the media and in the world right now and the ending feels unnecessarily harsh.

Allow me, instead, to water you with kindness. To remind you of blossoms and love. To give you the break from the bigger stressors of life and say that our next beginning requires us to start turning and tilling our heart space now. We know that the world will never be fair but it can be just. We can protect the vulnerable without reducing the capacity of the strong. Renewable resources are more than a climate change imperative. We, ourselves, are continuously renewable, abundant and capable of leaving scarcity behind.

It feels dangerous to talk of beginnings when the endings are at hand. It also feels irresponsible not to talk about them. If we talk about the beginnings we can start to recognize them. And if we recognize them, we can energize them.

I hold you all close in what turns out to be times that are often more interesting than I can digest. In that vein, I bulk bought party supplies and intend to dance my way into effulgent newness.

With folded palms,

Jennifer
